Disk vs. Tape

Everyone has their favorite way of putting together a backup strategy. Most enterprises have some sort of hybrid strategy using both disk-based backup (for disaster recovery and rapid backup) and tape, rather than all one or the other.

Here’s a good article from EnterpriseNetworkingPlanet.com going through the pros and cons of both.

These days, with 2TB disks selling for a few hundred dollars, tapes are no longer the cheaper alternative. They are potentially a safer backup medium, however.

Another advantage of disk-based backup is the ability to take multiple backups per day, which is true for StorageCraft ShadowProtect as well as other disk-based backup solutions.

ShadowProtect Review

GraphicDesignBasics.com just completed a comprehensive review of StorageCraft ShadowProtect Desktop Edition. Here’s a highlight:

There are big software companies that sell well known backup programs, but ShadowProtect out performs them all and does exactly what it promises to do.

The editor gave ShadowProtect GraphicDesign Basic.com’s highest rating: five pencils out of five.

CRN Profiles StorageCraft on ChannelWeb

CRN has a profile on StorageCraft that it just posted as part of its Emerging Vendor series.

With such major players using its technology it shouldn’t come as surprise that the people running the company thought they could do well for themselves by forming their own channel program and working with solution providers directly.

The profile touches on a little company history and highlights our two channel programs.
