ShadowProtect Virtual Named 2011 Product of the Year Finalist
For the second year in a row, ShadowProtect is a finalist for the prestigious Storage magazine Product of the Year awards. SearchStorage.com posted an article about this year’s finalists in the Backup and Disaster Recovery Software and Services category.
From the article:
StorageCraft Technology Corp. ShadowProtect Virtual
StorageCraft ShadowProtect Virtual backs up Windows systems and can recover to a virtual machine, physical hardware or the cloud. New to this version: backup for virtual and physical environments, including support for Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V, Oracle VirtualBox and VMware; the ability to boot a backup of a virtual machine directly for fast access to data without performing a restore; and a new centralized management console.
It’s said a lot, but it’s a big honor just to be nominated. And we’re proud that we’ve reached this achievement two years in a row.
StorageCraft listed in Utah 100 by Mountain West Capital Network
It’s been a busy week around here, so we’re a little behind in talking about our most recent award. We received recognition from the Mountain West Capital Network here in Salt Lake City last week when the MWCN held its annual Utah 100 luncheon. The Utah 100 honors the state’s 100 fastest growing companies, the top 15 revenue growth companies and the “Emerging Elite,” which are selected from thousands of eligible applicants solicited throughout the state.
StorageCraft ranked 20th in the Utah 100 in our first year on the list!
We were (and still are, quite frankly) very excited about this. We’re proud to be noticed for our success; it’s a great testament to the hard work, passion and creativity of our people, and we plan to continue this high standard of performance for a long time to come.
It also feels humbling and gratifying to be on the list with several other successful companies that represent a pretty broad set of industries, including technology, biomedical, healthcare, retail, construction and financial services. Congratulations to all of our fellow winners!
MSPmentor names StorageCraft CEO as MSP leader
MSPmentor just released the MSPmentor 250, the organization’s annual look at the executives, entrepreneurs, experts, coaches and community leaders shaping the global managed services market. We’re excited to announce that our president and CEO, Jeff Shreeve, made the list.
Jeff is one of the original five founders of StorageCraft and has been here since the beginning in 2004. He has extensive management experience in a variety of technology-based industries. He served as President of Advanced Geometrics, a geophysical research company; Vice President of Megalogics, Inc., and later CEO of DataCatchers, Inc., both developers of job costing systems. In addition, he served as Operations Manager of Rival Energy, an experimental energy development company and as Managing Member of Spectral Group, LLC, a software system development company. Jeff has also served in public management, including a term as the Salt Lake County Chief Deputy Auditor. He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from The University of Utah College of Law.

ShadowProtect Server Review in Redmondmag.com
Redmond Magazine just posted a review roundup of several backup and disaster recovery products for servers. The review spotlights four products designed especially for SMBs, including StorageCraft ShadowProtect Server™. The reviewer gave ShadowProtect high marks, and pointed out several great features.
Backups in SP are image-based, using the underlying VSS technology in Windows Server and providing very fast backups after the first full backup, as only changed sectors are backed up.
SP is a comprehensive product, offering efficient backups and smoothly blending the physical and virtual worlds for easy disaster recovery.

Setting up a Network
If you’ve ever thought about setting up a network at home or even been so ambitious as to set up a small office network, you know that it isn’t simple or straight forward. Getting everything running smoothly requires time, patience and several bottles of aspirin.
PC Magazine recently put together a how-to guide giving you some tips and tricks to make the process a little smoother. This guide explains the kind of storage to get and how to protect it.
You can set up your own local backup system given enough external storage space. If you’re going to take this course, we recommend creating not just a backup, but a whole drive image – that is, a backup of not just your data, but your entire PC – everything from your files to all the tweaks you make to your OS and apps so that they perform the way you want them to. The best software for this, hands down, is ShadowProtect Desktop 4.0.
Check out the entire article and pick up a few pointers. You may even have some of your own that the article doesn’t highlight. You can always share them here and give others the benefit of your wisdom and experience.
ShadowProtect Wins PC Magazine Editors’ Choice Award
There’s a reason we keep telling you that ShadowProtect is award-winning backup, disaster recovery and system migration software. The coveted PC Magazine Editors’ Choice award is the latest accolade and we’re proud to accept it! Once again ShadowProtect Desktop 4.0 is the backup software winner. The full article highlights new features, like VirtualBoot™, as well as the tried and tested features that make ShadowProtect such a consistenly reliable way to backup your desktop or laptop.
For years, StorageCraft’s ShadowProtect Desktop has been PC Magazine Editors’ Choice for drive imaging, and version 4.0 upholds the tradition. ShadowProtect Desktop 4.0 features unchanged core features as well as new features that make it easier and faster to get your system up and running from a backup even after a complete hardware breakdown makes your original hardware unusable.
You can check out Edward Mendelson’s complete review at pcmag.com, which starts with a reminder about the importance of backing up your PC.
Have you heard that somewhere before?
In addition, there’s a slide show that will take you through some of the product screen shots. It shows several of products wizards and explains how the software works. It’s definitely worth a look.
ShadowProtect Wins a New Award
It’s always exciting to win an award, even when you get them fairly regularly. If that sounds a little boastful, we really don’t mind because it isn’t boasting if it’s the truth. So ShadowProtect is in the spotlight again, getting another award. This time, it’s the “Riding the Crest” award from Programmer’s Paradise.
“StorageCraft is honored to receive the 2009 Riding the Crest award from Programmer’s Paradise,” said Curt James vice president of marketing and business development. “This award demonstrates that StorageCraft ShadowProtect continues to be recognized as a reliable disaster recovery solution not only for physical environments, but virtual systems, as well. ShadowProtect solutions are an excellent way to improve Recovery Time Objectives and keep business up and running.”
Programmer’s Paradise selects award winners based on total annual sales.
“The Programmer’s Paradise Riding the Crest Award to StorageCraft represents our customers’ choice as to the best-of-breed solution for business continuity and disaster recovery of their virtualized environments,” said Shawn Giordano, Vice President of Sales for Programmer’s Paradise. “They clearly recognize ShadowProtect’s value in minimizing downtime, improving business continuity and lowering their total cost of operations.”
This is the 14th year they’ve given out Riding the Crest awards.

Reliable Recovery
StorageCraft is featured in the March 12 edition of Processor in an article titled Reliable Recovery. StorageCraft VP of Product Management Brandon Nordquist discusses the company’s growth, even in a difficult economy, as well as the need for quick and reliable disaster recovery.
StorageCraft intends to continue its program of product expansion in the year ahead. One area that Nordquist has identified as having growth potential is virtualization, a key area for many software developers. Another major effort will be to increase the speed of recovery in all of its ShadowProtect applications.
“When you’re really in a crunch—when servers are down or the CEO’s laptop is not working—that’s when you need to do a very fast restore,” he says, noting that the key difficulty IT administrators have is keeping up with the daily accumulation of work data that then has to be restored in the event of a failure.
Nordquist also discusses StorageCraft’s business model, product line and some future plans in the article.
Award for StorageCraft VP
It’s always nice when someone says something good about you. In this case, the honor is for StorageCraft vice president of sales, Mike Kunz. CRN and Everything Channel just named Mike to their 2010 Channel Chiefs list. We’ve known for a while that Mike is a fantastic advocate for our partners — distributors, value added resellers and MSPs — but it’s nice to get confirmation from people on the outside.
You can read all about the award in this news release. Interested in finding out more about the StorageCraft Reseller Partner Program or our Managed Service Provider Partner Program? There is a lot of information on the StorageCraft Partner Program pages on our Web site.

CRN just put StorageCraft on its Emerging Technology Vendor List
CRN just put out its annual Emerging Technology list and StorageCraft made the cut for the second year in a row. Everything Channel looks at all kinds of newer companies and singles out those who deliver high margins for their solution provider partners by creating easy-to-use technology that is more affordable than software and services from the big companies.
“Solution Providers seek out innovative vendors that create new and innovative ideas to help them build revenue and customer loyalty,” said Robert C. DeMarzo, senior vice president and editorial director, Everything Channel. “Our Emerging Tech list is where Solution Providers go to find these vendors. We congratulate all of the vendors for their innovation and creativity and their commitment to the technology sales channel.”
It’s nice to be recognized by a channel authority like CRN. You can check out the press release announcement here: http://www.storagecraft.com/news/2009/crn-names-storagecraft-2009-emerging-tech-vendor.php.
