It’s easy to talk about server failure in a vacuum. We throw out stats and numbers and try to make sense of them without any context. It’s one thing to know that a server failure will cause you x amount of downtime and y dollars, but those numbers may not have any meaning until you start looking at them in comparison to other, more relatable kinds of disasters (your car breaking down, for example). When you start looking at it in context, the real implications of server failure and downtime come into focus, along with the need for a good backup and disaster recovery solution.
Yesterday we released a new infographic, “Server Failure: Your Worst Accident” that offers some of that context, along with some other useful information. We hope it helps put the dangers of server failure into perspective.
