DRAPER, Utah, U.S.A.
– StorageCraft Technology Corporation, a provider of innovative disk-based backup, disaster recovery, data protection and security solutions for servers, desktops and laptops, today announced an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with VMware, the global leader in software for industry-standard virtualized desktops and servers.
StorageCraft has licensed its Volume Snapshot Manager™ (VSM) to VMware for use in VMware Converter 3.0, which allows for easy migration of systems to a virtual environment. VMware Converter 3.0 uses StorageCraft technology to speed up the time it takes to migrate to virtual systems. StorageCraft VSM is used in VMware Image Converter 3.0 to complete hot migrations of Windows systems.
“The addition of live conversion capabilities to VMware Converter provides customers with a powerful tool for migrating into a virtual environment,” said Brian Byun, vice president of global partners and solutions for VMware. “We are pleased to enter this agreement with StorageCraft and expect their VSM technology to help us deliver the best possible conversion experience to our customers.”
StorageCraft Volume Snapshot Manager captures a hot snapshot of a system, allowing administrators to avoid the need to shut down a system when migrating to a VMware virtual machine. This saves time and simplifies the migration process.
VMware Converter allows system administrators to migrate machines from physical to virtual environments, whether a single system or a mass migration.
“We are excited to incorporate StorageCraft technology in VMware Converter,” said Scott Barnes, chief technology officer at StorageCraft. “VMware is the virtualization leader and StorageCraft snapshot technology is a natural fit to simplify the migration process.”
