StorageCraft is pleased to announce the addition of Western Digital as a StorageCraft Alliance Marketing Partner.  Western Digital, headquartered in Irvine, Calif., is a global provider of products and services that empower people to create, manage, experience and preserve digital content. Its subsidiaries design and manufacture storage devices, networking equipment and home entertainment products under the WD, HGST and G-Technology brands.

If you’ve not noticed how Western Digital is doing lately, you should.  With revenues for fiscal 2013 (ending in June) of $15.4 billion (up from 2012) and net income of $1.7 billion (up from 2012) and with total cash/cash equivalents of $4.3 billion, buying back stock and paying dividends, it’s no wonder Steve Milligan, president and chief executive officer of Western Digital, was “pleased” with their strong last quarter and 2013 performance.

What are StorageCraft and Western Digital Doing Together?

StorageCraft and the Western Digital SMB Solutions team are coming together to promote the joint backup and recovery solution of using ShadowProtect with the Western Digital Sentinel NAS family.  As a proof point of this solution, we’ve published a case study featuring our joint MSP partner Nex-Tech and their system engineer, Curtis Flax.

The short version is Curtis and Nex-Tech put together a very profitable backup and recovery solution using ShadowProtect on the Sentinel DX4000 as well as ImageManger to perform backup image file verification, consolidation, and replication to the Nex-Tech data center for offsite disaster recovery.  Curtis said:

I installed the WD Sentinel DX4000 in a couple of test locations, and it worked flawlessly. It was the first NAS device we tested that we really liked. And it met all of our requirements.
The WD Sentinel DX4000 includes 16TB of storage, with enough horsepower to replicate backups offsite without slowing down a customer’s server. It’s easy to use, reliable, flexible, and cost-effective.

It gives me gobs of storage. It’s beefy enough to run StorageCraft® ImageManager and make incremental backups all day long, every 15 minutes if the customer wants. And the installation is so easy it’s not even funny.

Read the case study.

The WD Sentinel comes in a 4-bay desktop pedestal or a 4-bay 1U rack mount form factor and pairs nicely with ShadowProtect and ImageManager.

StorageCraft is looking forward to expanding our relationship with Western Digital to bring solutions to market that will be great profit makers for our VARs, MSPs and System Integrators.
