Situation:

Console will not connect to remote server

Solution:

You need to configure the remote permissions to the “ShadowStor” DCOM component.

Therefore do the following:

  1. 1. Open up component services
  2. 2. Expand out component services until you see the DCOM area, then highlight the “ShadowStor” component as follows, then right click and select properties
  3. 3. Next step is to customize the “Access Permissions” as follows – Note – the account you are using on your console, in the above example, needs to be in the “Domain Admins” group. The other alternative is to add your user account in here and give it “Remote Access”.
  4. 4. Finally change the Configuration Permissions as follows Step 4 is optional but recommended to ensure that users can not change configurations. Your console will now access and communicate with the remote agents allowing for schedules to be set. Technical Information: This applies to Windows 2000 SP3 and above and the first version of Windows 2003 Additional information about the cause of this error NA
