1. Enhancements

New default retention policies

The default retention policies for StorageCraft Cloud Services have changed for all new accounts created after May 28, 2013. The new retention defaults are:

  • Consolidate intra-daily recovery points older than 3 days (previous default was 7 days)
  • Consolidate daily recovery points older than 1 Week (previous default was 4 weeks)
  • Delete all recovery points older than 31 days (previous default was 365 days)
Warning If you created your StorageCraft Cloud Services account before May 28, 2013, and want to use the new defaults, you need to log in and manually change the settings. The new default settings are not retroactive for accounts created before May 28, 2013.

2. Known Issues

  • After making HIR changes, problems can occur when signing in to a virtualized XP/2003 machine. On first boot the licenses for Windows XP and 2003 are in 3 day trial mode. After running the hardware wizards and rebooting the system, the 3 day trial is expired. You can work around this by activating (on first boot) after the hardware (HIR) is changed.
  • Creating differentials on a continuous job breaks cloud replication.
  • If you change the partition size of a system or data volume, ShadowProtect can continue the chain, and ImageManager 6.0 will upload (replicate) the files, but the cloud cannot process any of the backups after the volume size changes.  ImageManager 6.0.1 prevents this problem because it won't upload (replicate) any backup in a chain where the volume size changes.

3. Resolved Issues

  • StorageCraft Cloud only supports NTFS for File/Folder restore.

4. System Requirements

Software Requirements

  • ImageManager version 6
  • ShadowProtect version 5 (only if rolling consolidation is used)

Hardware Requirements

  • Cloud services doesn't directly require any specific hardware
  • ShadowProtect and ImageManager requirements must be taken into account because cloud services leverages them.
